Therapeutic Massage

This is a treatment aimed at rebalancing and maximizing muscle and connective soft tissue systems. Accompanying this treatment is an orthopedic and/or selective functional movement assessment. Some of these techniques include:

  • Swedish massage with light, medium, and deep pressure offered
  • Myofascial Release
  • Trigger Point Release
  • Passive and dynamic stretching
  • Training in Diaphragmatic breathing
  • Cupping Therapy: Involves parking and gliding pressurized cups over the body. The suction from the cups creates a negative pressure from the vacuum seal that creates tissue lift and separation—this forms an ideal environment for releasing fluids and metabolic wastes that are trapped in the tissues.
  • Graston Technique: This is an evidence based technique which uses specialized instuments to improve musculoskeletal function through soft tissue mobilization and exercise.

Recovery Massage

The goal of this massage is to decrease the sympathetic nervous system, which is our “fight or flight” system—responsible for increased pain perception, flare ups of chronic conditions, and decreased mental health and cognitive performance when stuck in a chronic state. Massage has been shown in multiple studies to increase our parasympathetic nervous system, or our “rest and digest” system, with a major benefit being an increased feeling of well being and better sleep cycles. This massage uses mostly Swedish Techniques in slow, rhythmic strokes, and is aimed at either full body, or can be targeted to the areas where tension is experienced. The client can also decide which type of pressure they feel most calming and relaxing—from light, medium, to deep pressure. An orthopedic assessment is not needed for this treatment.

All ages can experience the benefits of a therapeutic and recovery massage, including individuals with certain medical conditions and during pregnancy—the massage is catered to your specific needs as a client, so you can reach your treatment goals.
